Bradenton, Florida is located on a bit of land that was originally explored by the Spanish in Hernando De Soto’s 1539 expedition. By 1842, Bradenton – originally “Bradentown” – had been established and was finally incorporated in 1903. The town was named after Dr. Joseph Braden, who provided shelter for settlers during an attack by Seminole Indians.

 

Bradenton is also known for its rich historic districts, such as the Castle Park Historic District, and its well-preserved pieces of historical architecture, such as the Bradenton Bank and Trust Company Building (1925), the Iron Block Building (1896), the Manatee County Courthouse (1913), the Peninsular Telephone Company Building (1925), and the Old Manatee County Courthouse (1860).

 

Situated between Tampa and Sarasota, Bradenton is a town surrounded by fresh and salt water, making it a tourist destination.
